About Me

Hi! My name is Christian Greer— founder of Greer Tutoring. I’m truly appreciative that you would consider me as an option to help you or your student succeed. Below, you can learn a little bit about me, including my tutoring experience and qualifications.

Experience

I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arkansas in Communications and Sociology while also obtaining a minor in General Business. I am currently a second-year Master’s student pursuing an M.A. in Communications at the University of Arkansas with an emphasis in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication. Additionally, I am a Teaching Assistant at the university for COMM 1313 Public Speaking.

I started assisting students with their academic journey in my junior year of college when I became the Director of Leadership Development for the University of Arkansas’ Freshman Student Government Program. Most of this tutoring included informal advice, where I guided students in specific strategies and methods to help them become more consistent about studying and getting classroom work completed. This experience carried over into my senior year when I was appointed the Freshman Leadership Forum Coordinator. This position tasked me with directly mentoring 64 freshman student leaders at the university, to guide them in their academic and leadership opportunities. Once again, most of the tutoring I did with these students was informal, but I was occasionally asked to directly help with classes that students were struggling in. Shortly after my time in this positions, those around me suggested that I should start tutoring students more formally.

Soon after I graduated, I landed a part-time job with Campus Concierge (Do College Better) to start formally tutoring college students. This job allowed me to tutor a myriad of subjects and truly start to hone my skills on how to best help students. I tutored a large myriad of classes, from classes regarding English and Writing, Sociology and Research Methods, and even ACT and GRE preparation. While still working for Do College Better, I picked up another tutoring job at Fayetteville High School as an AVID Tutor. This experience further expanded my horizons, as I was asked to tutor high school students in topics like Biology,  Algebra 2, or World History. Still, FHS mostly utilized my skills to help students write more polished papers and perform better in content-rich classes.

While I am incredibly appreciative of both of these tutoring opportunities, a desire arose in me to start tutoring students through my own outlet. I primarily wanted to do this because I believed that tutoring should be affordable, achievable and applicable for every person who wants it. This leads into my tutoring approach…

My Tutoring Approach

Affordable

You shouldn’t have to break the bank to get effective tutoring. That’s why my tutoring rates are 33% less expensive than the average cost of college tutoring. Additionally, this allows you to schedule multiple sessions if need be, so that you can get the most help.

Achievable

Far too often, tutors try to set goals for students that are too lofty or can’t be achieved in the amount of time allotted. That’s why I tutor in a way that allows students to meet gradual short-term goals, so that they can meet their desired long-term grade or score.

Applicable

General tutoring advice often leaves students confused and ill-equipped. That’s why I tutor in a way that provides practical and applicable strategies for each student, so that they can directly apply my strategies to the course, classroom, or exam.
